Tips for Tailgating in your RV
It’s that time of year again: football season. High school games, college games, and the pros play every week and weekend. And odds are, you have some favorite teams that you like to support. Before the game starts, lots of football fans like to host a tailgating party to get everyone pumped about the game and socialize before kickoff.
Some tailgating parties are okay, but you’ll want yours to be the talk of the town so you get lots of guests game after game. To help you achieve this, Golden Gait Trailers & RVs has provided some of our favorite tailgating tips, the first of which is to get an RV to make your party less stressful and more comfortable. If you need more help, stop by our location in Concord, North Carolina, near Charlotte and Concord, for a chat with one of our friendly staff.
Use a Slow Cooker
Your biggest priority is obviously going to be food. You’ll want to make sure you have enough food and drink for everyone to stay happy. And while your RV will have a mobile kitchen to help you out, there’s only so many appliances that you can use at once. A great way to free up the stovetop or oven is to use a slow cooker. Not only will this give you more space to work with, it’ll keep the interior from getting too humid, will keep your food warm, and might even make a dish that’s more delectable than it would be using another appliance.
Use Coolers to Keep Food Warm
Speaking of keep food warm, coolers are well known as a great way to keep cold things cold, but they can also keep warm food warm. They’re simply insulated boxes, so they won’t let outside temperatures affect the temperature of the contents. Just remember to keep the lid closed.
Outdoor TV
A great way to keep guests entertained is to put on another game before you head into the stadium (or wherever you may be). While your RV might have televisions inside in the living area, you won’t want to cram too many people in there, especially if you need it as a food prep space. Consider setting up a TV outside the rig to free up interior space and enjoy any good weather that might be rolling through.
Propane Grills
Grilling is a classic staple of any football party. A few burgers and hotdogs and you’ve got yourself a hardy, American event. But setting up and cleaning up a charcoal grill can be messy. To avoid this, we recommend using a propane grill instead. Some hardcore grillers will tell you the food doesn’t taste as good with a propane grill, but if you’re not as concerned about that, then this switch can make your life a lot easier.
Safety Equipment
As the host, you won’t just be in charge of fun and food. You’ll also need to make sure everyone is being safe. Minor safety precautions should include sunscreen, bug spray, and a first aid kit for small scrapes and injuries. However, with so much going on, you’ll want more serious gear as well, like fire extinguishers.
This can get the ball rolling for you, but at the end of the day, this is your party! Host an event that you and your guests are really going to enjoy by personalizing it to cover your group’s interests.
