The Benefits of New

There’s a squeaky clean, brand new aura to new RVs that simply can’t be accomplished by any used vehicle. It comes with that new RV smell and there’s a certain amount of comfort knowing that you’re the one who’s going to break it in. You’ll also probably have features that are brand new to the market, from appliances to interior designs and more.

All these brand new parts will also mean you can put off major repairs. Pre-owned RVs are more likely to wear out sooner, but with new rigs, you can be sure they’re going to hold up for at least as long as you’re making payments. This can relieve a lot of financial stress, even though you’ll need to pay a little bit more for a new RV.

With all this in mind, most buyers who go for new models have already purchased an RV before and have spent a lot of time camping in one. At this point, they probably know exactly what they want and don’t have to do a lot of guesswork, so they can afford to spend a little more money knowing they’re going to love what they get. 

The Benefits of Used

This doesn’t mean there are only bad reasons to buy used. One of the more obvious reasons is that the price tag is going to be much cheaper. Sometimes, you can shave tens of thousands of dollars off the initial cost. Even gently used models that are only a year or two old are going to be significantly cheaper than they originally were and their newer counterparts. 

As long as you know how to look for a pre-owned model, then you won’t fall into the lemon traps that so many vehicle owners have to deal with. This should include doing plenty of research ahead of time. Ask for vehicle history to see what kinds of repairs have already been made to the RV and check out some RV owner forums to see how previous owners have enjoyed (or not enjoyed) their camping trips in a particular model. This will hopefully alert you to any red flags that might direct your attention to other vehicles.

While many seasoned RV owners go back to used models time and time again, these rigs can be particularly helpful for owners who don’t have a lot of experience in RVing or camping in general. This way, if you get a model filled with features you end up disliking or not using, you can pay off the rig faster and upgrade to something that suits your camping style a little better.
