“My husband and I are writing to express our gratitude for the care and service that the staff of Golden Gait Trailers recently extended to us.
It’s not often that a frightening experience can be transformed into a positive one. On Tuesday, December 4th, my husband and I were traveling north on Route 85 near Concord, NC, towing our 37-foot 5th-wheel trailer, when we heard what we thought was a loud explosion. We pulled to the shoulder of the highway, thinking that we had blown a tire on the trailer. It was much worse than that. An entire wheel was gone, and it was clear that the axle and brake were damaged, and we didn’t know what else had been compromised. Apparently the sealed bearings had overheated, causing the tire to blow. The overheating and force of the blowout caused the damage to the wheel system. Fortunately it didn’t result in an accident that could have been catastrophic. It was late afternoon, and we were anxious to get help before the sun set.
With the help of 911 Highway Patrol and the ingenuity of an employee from ABC Towing of the Carolinas (who recommended that we contact GGT), we were able to drive…albeit at 30 miles per hour…to your service center. It was our good fortune that GGT was nearby.
The staff not only delivered the highest caliber of service, but they were thoughtful problem-solvers who genuinely cared about our well-being. They helped us navigate through the complexities of negotiating with our warranty company and ordering replacement axles, brakes and tires from the manufacturer. In addition, it was clear that one of their highest priorities was to make sure that we were comfortable and had a place to stay during the repair-work.
They offered to let us camp in the parking lot with an electrical hook-up until the parts were delivered. It was a week long process, and we couldn’t have been more comfortable. Since we live in our RV full-time, this was a welcome courtesy.
We would specifically like to thank and commend Donald Long, Service Consultant, and Technicians Johnny, Russell and Armando. There may be others who were involved as well…like the receptionist who graciously told us where the nearest restaurants and food markets were… and we apologize if we have overlooked anyone.
